This was our first time here, and the food was generally good. The kids loved the beef patties and popcorn chicken nuggets. The pumpkin pancakes and xiaolongbao were also good. However, I wouldn't recommend the spicy fish, as it had too many Sichuan peppercorns and the fish didn't taste very good. The overall environment was nice, the restrooms were clean, there were dolls at the entrance for photos, and parking was convenient.
The restaurant is clean and comfortable, and one of the servers who speaks Chinese was especially friendly. We tried four of the Bib Gourmand–recommended dishes: wonton soup, duck bun, Shanghai veggie bun, and beef roll. The wontons were plump and tasty, the duck bun was flavorful, and the beef roll was wonderfully crispy. The cucumber appetizer was a hit with everyone, and the stir-fried noodles were also very good. The noodle soup was more average, but overall the experience was great.
Finally found some decent soup dumplings. One of my favorite foods from my travels. These soups dumplings are larger than you will find in the famous din tai. So be aware that they are not small and bite size. They are almost double the size. They are delicious. The Shanghai fried dumplings are also fantastic. We made reservations but it was still pretty empty (off peak) but they do recommend reservations for peak dinner times. The food here was super good and I plan to return one day.
Food was great. The beef noodle stir fry was delicious and a very large portion. We also ordered chicken and soup dumplings. Great food and fast service.
Good soup dumplings though ours were a bit overcooked. The cucumber salad, while not the smashed garlic cucumber salad we were craving, were very good as was the sliced beef appetizer. The scallion pancake with beef and pan fried pork buns were the star of the show here. We also had the duck noodles, which were very good as well. The dining room was clean and basic, and service was excellent. Definitely recommend a stop if you want some above average dumplings.
