I came because of Instagram. I really wanted to support. The location is interesting…..the bathroom was out of service. The wings were really good ….wish I was informed they only had wet sauces vs dry rubs. The Mac wasn't what I was expecting….the greens were tasty. If I ever come back it would be for the wings.

I came here because I saw the Instagram review. First .. I thought it was supposed to be on Western but I could not find that location.. the area is a little sketchy so be prepared for that.. the aesthetics of the outside of the building is not that great… Once you get inside… It’s not that great either… The young lady at the desk was great. She was cool, courteous and they had my food ready faster than what I thought it was going to take; however, she had to leave the restaurant and go to another store or place to get change… Haven’t seen that happen since I left Chicago. Got the food home, opened it up… For $31, I received one piece of catfish some greens and some yams and I also ordered a side of the banana pudding. The yams were decent, but not the best I’ve ever had and the greens were decent not the best I’ve ever had. The catfish was very good but for $31, I expected a piece and a half or two pieces. Lastly, the banana pudding… I don’t know what to say about it. It has caramel and no bananas. It’s not freshly made banana pudding, it’s more like JellO banana pudding with vanilla wafers..so I would not advise purchasing that. If you want some good catfish I recommend coming here but for the other items… It’s a no for me.

I got the sweet chili wings, bbq beans, and greens. The sides really stole the show. The beans were really tasty and the greens were literally perfect. I’d eat here again, for sure.

The food is on 10 here!!! Delicious and cheesy Mac and cheese. The yams have the perfect amount of sweetness. Get that fried salmon. I really enjoyed it and add some chili oil to give it a kick and flavor. Their wings go crazy. I like the spicy honey but also enjoyed the garlic Parmesan. That strawberry banana pudding is next level. The baked beans and the collard greens are also tasty. You guys should check this place out. The staff is amazing. They have room to sit down and eat. Perfect place for family, date or takeout.

Terrible experience at Gotta Have It Grill on October 10, 2025. I waited over two hours for my food — and still never received it. When I arrived, I was told my order wasn’t ready because the chicken hadn’t even been thawed. Then I was asked if I could just “pick something else” instead. That alone is unacceptable.

On top of that, I wasn’t the only one. Multiple people were waiting just as long as I was, and everyone looked just as frustrated. Some customers who arrived later were somehow served first. There was no communication, no updates, and no sense of urgency from the staff.

I really wanted to support a local soul food spot, but this was a complete letdown. Unorganized, unprofessional, and clearly not ready to handle basic service expectations. I left hungry and disappointed and I won’t be back.
