First off, that was seriously the best mac and cheese I have ever had. I can't say as much for the chicken and meat loaf, but if I had one thing stand out for me, it was the mac and cheese. So so good. The owner is also super friendly and willing to share stories about the place and what not if you ever want to learn the background of the place among some other things. Overall, I will rate it decently for the mac and cheese, but be warned, the other food was somewhat lackluster still and definitely not as good of soul food as I was expecting.

Edit: Based on the other reviews with the same GrubHub experiences as me, they may actually be running a scam.

Put in an order through grubhub, paid, and got confirmation. After two hours, the food had not arrived so we called to check the status. The man on the phone quite literally yelled saying that we were trying to defraud them for free food, they didn't have any of the items we ordered on their menu, and questioned our ethics and waxed eloquent about his mission to save the children. He was thoroughly unwilling to try to fix the issue, and we spent half an hour on the phone arguing with him. We never got our food and they stole $33 from us. Utterly horrible.

I have come back here a few times and would like to add that the food is always prepared by very genuine caring people.

I believe the food is high-quality and and nutritious but the sides are often overlooked or precooked.

The best part is that the proceeds are voluntary $12 suggest donation per plate and benefit Jacinto's programs to aid children (especially minority kids) in feeling good about life, themselves, and providing them with the food !

It's always a little lonely even if you bring friends but I will continue to support this great cause at least once per week!

Was looking for a good soul food place on Google and discovers this awesome place with my lover! You have to go Inside to really get a unique experience. The decor is very interesting and respresents a lot of black history in America. If you want to meet some interesting, smart, and creative people come here! Eat bomb food listen to poetry coming from the poet and hear Janey the cook sing (if your lucky like we were). Must go at least once in your life I think ;p

Placed order on grub hub at 7:30pm tonight. Called grub hub at 9:20pm because I hadn't received my food yet. They said the restaurant never confirmed my order. They called for me with no answer from the restaurant and subsequently I never got my food. Grub hub refunded my money with no problem which was cool, but I won't order from this restaurant again.
