We got the jerk chicken, oxtail, and curry chicken with roti it was all amazing! It was better than a lot of the stuff we get in NY. The owner mentioned being around for 31 years and my family and I definitely see why. Service was great too, the owner was exceptionally kind to everyone who came through the door. 10/10 would recommend!

9.24.23 – when I entered the atmosphere the staff wasn't very welcoming nor pleasant…. UNTIL I let them know that I was a first-timer! Then, they seemed a little interested in my order. I was speaking to the young lady behind the counter first. Because she only stared at me with no responses I went to the older lady. My overall take is below…

Food – the only thing worth raving about was the Roti SKIN; not the curry chicken roti which was dry…. just the ONE plain skin I ordered. Rice was overcooked. The only veg available was mixed veggies.

Groceries – if you're big on shelf life, check the dates (see pic). I saw some perfect West Indian food staples. Some overpriced; Yet a nice assortment!

Other notes: takeout only, no fish on Sundays (maybe just saltfish breakfast)

I don't regret spending $75+ here that day as I love the back story shared by the lady. Apparently, the biz was started by her father about 30y back and her Mother still makes the dessert! I'm proud of their longevity as a small, family-owned biz; not sure that I need to return though.

The food is ok the portions are small even when you get a large. I got a large jerk chicken dinner. I was given 1 quarter leg cut up for 15.00 not again. If you go around lunchtime be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes.

NO WHERE TO SIT AND WAIT ON YOUR FOOD AT THIS RESTAURANT.
First let me start by saying that have some delicious food, and my husband likes eating there. HOWEVER, they don’t do have a place for anyone to sit when order and waiting on your food to be prepared. My husband has some health issues and can’t stand for a long period of time. So I took down one of the chairs they had to the side for him to sit wait for his food.

When this woman came run out the kitchen saying we are not doing dine in anymore only take out. I said yes, we know, he is sitting in the chair waiting for his food because he can’t stand for too long. So the lady said , “he is not suppose to be even sitting down in the chair because we don’t want anyone to say they got monkeypox or covid from our restaurant. “ I just looked at her like 🤨🧐, seriously? I asked if you can get his food ready we can leave. So she looked 👀 at our ticket and went back to the kitchen to get my husband food. So if you are handicap, elderly, or have health issues you might not want to eat here because they can’t accommodate while you wait on your food to be prepare. They don’t even have a call to order system in place.

These people are rude as hell and lack customer service. I was here on December 29th and the lady that rung up my food said she had to swipe my card and force it to be ran as debit even tho I could’ve swiped the card myself because there was no name on it as she took the card from me and examined it (I was using a prepaid card) okay fine no big deal. Then she ask me if I wanted white rice or rice and beans, I said rice and beans and then after I paid I noticed there was a .35 charge which I asked about and said that should’ve been disclosed. She said it didn’t have to be disclosed because it was on the screen, which I didn’t see on the screen. She then started speaking to me aggressively and asked me if I still wanted the food, I said yes that has nothing to do with the charge not being disclosed. She then called for someone to refund the money and tells me I think you’re upset about the debit card usage, I said no that didn’t bother me, I’m speaking on what the issue is. She was nasty as hell and aggressive as hell with her communication to me unnecessarily as I maintained the same tone of voice from the moment I walked in. You’re not doing me any favors when I’m the one patronizing your business which I will not be back. Learn customer service and how to speak to people when they’re spending their money at your establishment.
