Continental Gourmet Market is a gem. The made-to-order sandwiches are a standout—fresh, flavorful, and served on a perfectly crisp baguette. With a wide variety of hot and cold options, you'll always find something you love.
And you can't leave without trying the empanadas! Whether you choose beef, chicken, spinach, or spicy, each one is filled with a rich, savory filling that's never dry or bland.
The market also offers a wonderful selection of high-quality meats, cheeses, pastries, and other unique Central American products. It’s the kind of place where you can grab a quick lunch and pick up specialty ingredients for later. The team is always so helpful and genuinely friendly, and they get your food out fast. This is a small business well worth supporting!

Steak sandwich was excellent. I selected onions (grilled made them a plus), mayo, lettuce, tomato, and jalapeno (so grilled 😋). Steak was seasoned well (not under or over). This was way better than fast food chains. Will definitely get the again.

update: Ordered the same sandwich, but with double meat the next day and it had cheese in it and the meat weren't as good as the first time. Maybe a different cook. Someday I'll try again and I did- quality dropped dramatically, tasted sour and the meat was dry. Won't be going back.

Don't come over here if you're in a rush, it's a hassle to find a parking spot

Got a variety of empanadas, the spicy beef was my favorite, followed by the chicken, then spinach. It was my breakfast and lunch today, the empanadas were hot and freshly baked. They were baked because they were not greasy, the fillings were nice and hot with good flavors. I had the opportunity last week to meet the owners, all very friendly and dedicated to their products. Today I was there for another aspect of work from the week before. What a treat to have their empanadas and see the store and the products carried in their store. Definitely a place I'll stop by again to get another box of empanadas.

WOW! I used to go to this market a lot when it was the only one with empanadas. Even though was out of my way. Yesterday I was in the area and decided to get some empanadas, boy oh boy, WHAT HAPPENED? Did the owners got so rich with LOMITA and Manhattan blvd stores that they abandoned this place or did they sold the store to the lowest bidder. 1- has half of products that used to. 2- products are old, dusty, expired, dried and overpriced,I picked up a bag with beans for bean soup , it was so dirty, the plastic was very old , hardly see the beans through it. 3- they change the empanada’s recipe, now they have zucchini and other vegetables in it . YUCK! South American empanadas have just meat, onions, hard boiled egg, raisins and black olives . No vegetables!!!!…4-,the woman at the register / counter was so distracted w her phone, I saw a customer waiting to place mad order , but left because nobody came to help. 5- clefts and cheeses were not attractive it all. Will never go back to this store again. Ruined my good memories. BTW I have been at the Manhattan blvd one, that one is well sorted, tried a sandwich once, but it was too soggy, something spilled inside the box. Never been at the LOMITA one.
