This place is the reason why I extended my 3 day stay at the Sheraton to a 6 day stay. I easily spent 500-600 dollars here in that week, doing both lunch and dinner. Yes, it is a very expensive place with 20% gratuity on top, but I still continued to tip on top of that because the service was fantastic.
Everything is pricey, but the portions are robust, the quality of the meat is astounding in this day and age and the drinks were not watered down. If anything, it felt like every meal was perfectly filling and every drink was enough to get me a bit loose.
Overall, exquisite Americana food and mixed drinks by a staff that actually cares. Above average presentation, top tier quality.
The BEST Buffalo Chicken Wings I ever had in my life, I legitimately had them with their house made ranch daily every lunch, they were so good.
Pretty typical restaurant at a hotel. The service was good, the food was decent. Hard to be sure about the atmosphere because part of the area was blocked off for a retirement party.
Had dinner here again. The service was good. It was pretty empty and the room was fairly cold. The waiter, who was wearing a heavy jacket, gave my wife a couple of pool towels to keep her warm. 5 service stars for his efforts to keep her warm!
The food was excellent. I ordered the 12 oz Strip Loin with a local Mango wheat beer and it was delicious. The steak was grilled perfectly. My boys had and enjoyed the chicken wings and my wife had the nacho platter which was absolutely massive. The service was efficient but not when it came time to pay our bill. It took a very long time for the server to bring it to us. The food, though, was worth the few extra minutes for the bill.
The menu was pricey, but not out of bounds for an airport hotel restaurant in California. Food was filling, drink selections were good, service was great. The reason I’m leaving a 1 star review is that they practice “mandatory tipping” which I’m just now realizing is an illegal practice according to CA SB 478. Don’t get me wrong, I would’ve left a tip on my own, but I was shocked after I sat at the bar for 45 minutes, had a quesadilla and 2 beers ($39 according to the menu), and my ticket had me on the hook for about $60. There was nothing posted at the bar, in the restaurant, or in the menu about this place practicing mandatory tipping. According to the law, restaurants should have price transparency and factor those sorts of things into their menu prices. I basically got scammed because I’m an out-of-towner staying at an airport hotel and don’t know any better. Don’t let the ambience fool you.
Costero Bistro is located inside the Sheraton Gateway Hotel, they offer American fare with cocktails in a modern setting. We were a party of 6 and decided on lunch and dinner at the hotel. The great thing about being a bigger party is trying all the food. Sadly, during lunch because of the quantity of the food ordered, the quality had gone down.
