I stopped by Sister Soul Food for one of their $5.00 bowls, and let me tell you—it’s definitely worth it for the price! The jerk chicken had that perfect smoky kick, full of flavor and cooked just right, while the ribs were tender, juicy, and had that fall-off-the-bone goodness you look for in real soul food. Both were seasoned beautifully and packed with flavor that left me wanting more.

The only downside was the macaroni and cheese—it came out clumpy and a bit hard, which took away from the comfort food vibe I was hoping for. If they could get that creamy, cheesy consistency down, it would’ve been a perfect meal.

Overall, the bowls are a great value, the meats were on point, and I’d definitely come back for that jerk chicken and ribs again!

My husband and I aren't usually on this side of town. It was 3 o'clock we hadn't eaten anything as of yet and couldn't decide. While waiting on my husband to come out of Palmers Feed the street over I googled good food near me.
I was starving.
Sister Soul food came up with excellent reviews.
I told my husband I don't know where you plan to eat but I am eating at this spot with great reviews.
First I am so proud of the great customer service.
The cashier was so friendly and informative! The black guy with the perfectly groomed beard and mustache was just so hospitable.
I was hungry so I ordered a lot.
I have never been sooooooooo disappointed and hurt.
My husband fried fish and shrimp were so overcooked we couldn't even chew it.
It seemed overcooked and old as if it had been sitting.
I thought I ordered the pork chop dinner but I got this 1 pitiful pork chop the size of a chicken wing. Mac n cheese was so dry no salt and no real mac n cheese flavor.
I ordered the bowl with string beans rice and cabbage too.
All stalks no flavor and the rice was sooooo puffy it was as if my oldest granddaughter had cooked it.
I love cabbage and couldn't even finish it.
I had a bill that was almost 50 bucks.
My feelings are soo hurt because we couldn't get home fast enough to dig in. When I opened that mini bowl with my one small pork chop in it I just couldn't believe it. How can they feel okay serving this.
I wanted to love them.
I wanted to come on here and brag about this spot we had found accidentally.
I wish them all the success.
Maybe it was just a bad day.
I will admit that it was busy and a long line and the place was like a hot sauna no A/C.
My menopause was on full blast but I stuck it out because of the long lines, the hospitality and the great reviews. I have been dooped!

Customer service is outstanding. I hated the long line but it was well worth it. The fried chicken is phenomenal. I did a variety of the $5 bowls so I could taste everything my lil heart desired. Only thing I was lacking was cornbread. I will definitely be back.

Honestly Sister Soul Food wowed me for a first time and unexpected visit. Was craving a good home cooked meal on Sunday afternoon and this popped up. When I pulled up the line was out the door, stood in line maybe 10 minutes but once inside that’s when you place your order. Me and my brother got two $5 dollar bowls each and ma they did not disappoint! Smothered pork chops 10/10 field peas 10/10 yellow rice 10/10 the cabbage was 10/10 Mac& cheese was decent not bad but not all that either. The fried shrimp same. Would I go back though ABSOLUTELY the people are kind, the food is good, and the price point is unmatched!
