🇪🇹 ETHIOPIA (via Eat the World Los Angeles) – When you arrive at Yordanos in Crenshaw, the exterior does not hint to the joy that you will eventually find inside. But the warmth of the space and the wonderful aromas smack your senses as soon as the door is opened and you take one step past the threshold. The restaurant has the feel of a place that has been around for its community a long time, but in reality the grand opening was in the summer of 2019. Nowadays you will find groups of friends coming to talk with each other over beer, wine, or Ethiopian coffee, or enjoying an NBA game on the TV after finishing a meal.
It was my first Ethiopian restaurant to try and I liked the vibe and food types.
Sabusa is no Brainer try.
I just figured their mild spicy level is not very mild and is strong so be careful before the order.
Wow wow wow. So my friend and I wanted to go on a food adventure and we chose this amazing place. The first thing that you take in is the atmosphere… peaceful, calming and inviting. Not knowing anything about Ethiopian food, I was wide-eyed and ready for anything. It was far too difficult to pick anything to order with no clue as to what things might be to our taste. So we went with the Mahberawi, an amazing platter with six different items, two very spicy dishes, and 4 other flavorful dishes. Along with the platter came a bowl of what looked to be a thin bread but more spongy. I was familiar wnough with ethiopian food from a prior visit that one takes a piece of the injera and scoops up a mouthful portion and enjoy.
… is tomato, spices with onions and ground beef with a tanky flavor. It was very mild and quite tasty.
…. is a bit like carne asada mixed with onion and seasoning which was very satisfying.
… omg the beef with collard greens was amazing. Flavorful and mildly seasoned paired well with the bread.
Yebeg Alicha… the bread, injera, was soaked with beef and seasoning with a tangy flavir.
Kitfo … was ground steak tartar which will make you spice lovers extremely happy.
… an even spicier chicken and vegetable dish with hard boiled egg.
This dish was a wonderful way to sample such an awesome variety of foods and flavors. If you have never eaten Ethiopian food, this is a wonderful place to wet your tastebuds.
The best part is that I can't wait to come back and try the vegetarian tray!! See you soon!
Have never had ethiopian food before but very pleasantly aromatic, spicy, extremely delicious!!! My son had a dish with salmon, jalapeños and onions called Fish Kitfo that was very good and spicy. I had the lamb tibs called Yebeg Key Wet which was sooooo very good and spicy! Hand food served with traditional injera that they ferment for 3 days. Very very good. Had a small coffee jebena – strong and good!! Highly recommend here!!!!! Thank you for a very enjoyable experience!
We enjoyed the platter that contains of different food, and loved it! 🥰 The service was marvelous, and they played really great music videos from Ethiopia.
